Šíma, Adam ; Sehnálková, Jana (advisor) ; Perutka, Lukáš (referee)
This bachelor thesis examines the impact of New Deal program on the unemployment in the USA in 1930s. New Deal was a series of measures reacting to the consequences of Great Depression created by Franklin Delano Roosevelt and his Brain Trust. Firstly, thesis seeks to identify the unemployment estimates most suitable for set goals. It proceeds to analyze the unemployment in this era on the national as well as regional level and finds out that changes in unemployment rates reacted to the creation of public works projects. In more detail it focuses on South Atlantic region and looks for the causes of surprisingly high increase of employment rate in the period of 1929-1940. Next follows a case study of New Deal's impact on African Americans in this region. In this matter the thesis concludes, that increasing employment in the 1930s did not apply to black population in the same ways as to white population. New Deal's impact thus differed significantly throughout the US regions as well as in relation to various demographic groups.

Sedlák, Roman ; Kotábová, Věra (advisor) ; Just, Petr (referee)
The subject of this thesis is the Imperial Presidency. Arthur Schlesinger is the author of this term in the realm of Political Science. His book was a reaction to the gradual accretion of political power in the office of the President of the United States. Imperial Presidency is described by variables: a) The President overreaches his powers given to him by the Constitution of the USA; b) The President is not limited by other branches of power. The theories behind this thesis are called the unilateral action theory and the unitary presidency theory. After designating variables in the thesis we should be able to answer the question: "What kind of political behaviour describes imperial presidency?"

Employment policy in the first New Deal
Kozlová, Lenka ; Tajovský, Ladislav (advisor) ; Krček, Matěj (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with problems of unemployment in the United States of America during the 30th years of the twentieth century, and especially the various projects in support of employment for the presidency of Franklin Delano Roosevelt in the period of the first New Deal. Realization of these large public work projects was a response to the outbreak of the Great Depression, which resulted in the emergence of the historically highest levels of unemployment in U.S. history. Unemployment policy was the first step to state intervention and the consolidation of authority of the federal government through high government expenditure. These were necessary for financing of these therapy projects. For this reason, I analyze the influence of government spending to the federal budget and the growth and decline of unemployment from 1929 to 1935 (1940) and consequently their impact on the U.S. economy.

První New Deal
Práce se zabývá první etapou New Dealu od nástupu Roosevelta do funkce prezidenta až do roku 1935, kdy Nejvyšší soud zrušil jeden z pilířů prvního New Dealu.
